Bring your bank transactions into LEDGR
Have a CSV from online banking? Bring it into LEDGR and check the dates, amounts and categories before adding it to your budget. You can also connect through Plaid if your bank and account are supported.

Check that purchases read as spending.

Start with a bank CSV
LEDGR can recognize some file layouts. For other files, match the date, description and amount columns, or match debit and credit separately if your bank uses two columns. Excel workbooks use the spreadsheet import option.
Check the direction of the money
One bank may use a positive amount for a card purchase; another may use a negative amount. Check the CSV preview and amount convention so spending and income land on the right side of your ledger.
Use a bank connection when it’s available
Look up your bank in Plaid and check which accounts it offers. If the account you need isn’t available, see whether your bank lets you download a transaction CSV.

Good to know
A few practical questions.
Will my bank’s CSV work?
It depends on how the bank lays out the file. Try a short export and check whether LEDGR reads the dates, descriptions and amounts correctly.
Can I check transactions before they’re added?
When you import a CSV from Accounts, you can review the rows before adding them to your ledger. A Plaid connection can add transactions automatically, so check the ledger after connecting.
Can I import a statement in US dollars?
Use the currency that matches your statement when LEDGR asks. Choosing CAD does not convert USD amounts.
Start with one month of spending.
Bring in your transactions, review your categories, and give the next month a plan.
