Four parts of one monthly habit.

  1. Bring the history together

Import transactions from a compatible CSV file or use an available bank connection. Start with a manageable period so you can understand the data before building a longer history.

  2. Make the labels consistent

Use categories and merchant rules to organize your transactions. Keep trip or project tags as an additional lens instead of rebuilding your categories for every occasion.

  3. Understand what changed

Compare categories across months. Find the purchases behind a higher total and decide whether they are part of your usual routine.

  4. Give next month a plan

Set category targets in Spending Plan using the month you just reviewed as context. Adjust them as your priorities change.

Import transactions

Have a CSV from online banking? Bring it into LEDGR and check the dates, amounts and categories before adding it to your budget. You can also connect through Plaid if your bank and account are supported.

Spending Plan

A plan does not need to predict every purchase. Set category targets, compare them with what you spend, and adjust when life gives you a different month.

Categories & rules

The same merchant should not become a new puzzle every month. Give transactions consistent categories, use rules for repeat patterns, and keep your spending view readable.

Spending insights

A change in spending could be a new habit or a one-off purchase. Compare categories across months, find what moved, and decide whether it belongs in your next plan.

Good to know

A few practical questions.

Which feature should I start with?

Start with imports, then check your categories. Insights and planning are more useful when the underlying transactions are complete and organized.

Do I need to connect a bank?

No. You can upload a compatible CSV transaction file from your bank and review it before importing.

Can I start on the website?

New customers start through the iOS app. Existing members can use the website sign-in. Check the App Store listing for current availability and requirements.
